Isuzu I-Series 290 Auto Insurance
The Isuzu I-Series is a mid-size pickup truck that was first exposed to the public at the 2005 New York International Auto Show as a replacement for the Isuzu Hombre. The I-Series was built in Shreveport, Louisiana. Automotive News reports that sales for the I-Series have been slow since its inception. Isuzu is withdrawing from the United States market and thus discontinuing the I-Series. The Hummer H3T, another General Motors brand, will replace it.
In 2006, the i-280 2.8 L Atlas LK5 I4 and i-350 3.5 L Atlas L52 I5 were released. The following year, the i-290 2.9 L Atlas LLV I4 and i-37 3.7 L Atlas L5R0 models were produced. In 2008, General Motors produced the i-290 2.9 L Atlas LLV and the i-370 3.7 L Atlas L5R 15. Produced variously as a 2-door and 4-door pickup with a front engine, the Isuzu I-Series also had rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
The i-290’s engine was a 185-hp 2.9-liter four-cylinder that came standard with a five-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic was also available upon request. While the i-290 could be ordered as an extended-cab or crew-cab pickup truck, the i-370 was only produced as a crew cab. The extended-cab came with rear doors that opened in reverse, and a 6-foot cargo bed with tiny rear seats ideal for storage space. A model with a larger crew-cab was manufactured with more rear-seat space and four doors, with a cargo bed size reduced by one foot. These models only came with rear-wheel drive.
The i-290 had two trim levels, S and LS, but the i-370 offered only the LS trim. The basic trim for the i-290 Series offered air-conditioning, cruise control, and a few other features. The LS trims were slightly more accommodating, with a six-speaker stereo, bucket seats, and full power accessories, and a six-CD changer and locking rear differential available for an additional charge.
The 2006 Isuzu i-Series is the least expensive, priced from $7,907 to $12,784, while the 2007 i-Series is several thousand dollars more, running from $10,058 to $15,961. The 2008 i-Series runs the highest in price, ranging from $12,334 to $19,441.
