GMC Acadia Auto Insurance
The GMC Acadia was intended to replace the mid-size GMC Safari van, the Pontiac Montana SV6 minivan, and the long-wheelbase GMC Envoy XL/SUV. The vehicle was available to the public in the US in 2006 and in Canada in 2007. Considered a mid-priced Lambda model between the Outlook and the Enclave, the Acadia is a full-size crossover SUV using the GM Lambda platform. This model is the first front-wheel drive passenger vehicle that GMC has ever produced, as well as its first crossover SUV. Seating eight, the Acadia offers front or all-wheel drive, and can tow up to 4,500 pounds.
The Acadia’s engine is a High Feature LY7 V6 producing 275 hp and 251 pounds of torque per foot. This model also makes use of the 6T7% 6-speed automatic, which improves performance by up to eight percent, and fuel economy by up to four percent from other GM front-wheel drive four-speed automatics currently on the market. The Acadia achieves 16 mpg during city driving and 24 mpg during highway.
The Acadia’s interior has chrome and satin nickel trim, and two-toned interior colors. Drivers can choose from Ebony, Light Titanium, or Brick leather upholstery. This model can seat up to seven or eight passengers in three different rows.
The Acadia offers many safety features, including a unibody construction to help lower its center of gravity and cut down on rollover accidents. The entire Acadia is reinforced with high-strength steel, with a steel cross-car beam on the floor. There are six airbags in the Acadia, including two dual-stage front air bags, two seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and two head curtain side impact airbags. A detection system is also present that will automatically set airbags in motion if it detects a rollover. Another safety feature the Acadia offers is the OnStar system.
In 2011, dealerships will receive a Denali model of the Acadia with upgraded trim in FWD and AWD versions, monotone paint, unique front and rear fascias, a honeycomb grille, HID headlamps, chrome accents, six-spoke 20-inch wheels, and exhaust tips. The Denali Acadia will fit seven to eight passengers.
