Geo Spectrum Auto Insurance

The Geo Spectrum is a subcompact car based on the Isuzu I-Mark. The Geo Spectrum was first manufactured by Isuzu in Japan, and sold by General Motors as a brand of Chevrolet to stay adrift within the late 1980s burgeoning small import market. General Motors viewed the Spectrum as a car that would compete to attract young drivers. Introduced in 1989 at the same time as the Geo brand as a whole, the Spectrum was only sold under that name for a year. From 1985 to 1988, it was marketed as a Chevrolet model. The Geo Spectrum was sold under many names throughout its tenure, including the Isuzu I-Mark in the United States, the Isuzu Gemini in Japan and Central America, the Chevrolet Spectrum in the United States and Canada, the Pontiac Sunburst in Canada, the Holden Gemini in Australia, and the Chevrolet Gemini in Chile.

In Japan, the Spectrum had a 1.5 liter SOHC engine, a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine, and a 1.7 liter I4 diesel engine at first, and a 1.6 liter DOHC engine at the end of 1987. Various trim levels were available, ranging from very basic to Lotus Tuned and Irmscher models. In the US, the Spectrum was sold with 1.5 liter SOHC non-turbo and turbo engines, but diesel engines were not available. The turbo model I-Mark was first called the RS model, then the LS model a year later. It was only available with a 1.6 liter DOHC engine when it was manufactured as an RS model. Both the LS and RS models came with Lotus Tuned Suspension in 1988 and 1989, which offered rigid dampers, larger sway bars, and alternate spring rates.

The Spectrum has four cylinders, an automatic 3-speed transmission, and front-wheel drive. The Geo gets 26 miles per gallon in the city, and 30 on the highway. As the Spectrum is out of production, it is difficult to find on the current market, but can be purchased used for around $7,795. Parts are less difficult to come across than the Spectrum as a whole, as they are in large supply.
