Chrysler Sebring Auto Insurance

Falling neatly into the category of mid-sized cars, the Chrysler Sebring is a popular sedan and coupe model even today. Sebring car insurance quotes are many and varied, much as the car itself, and a great variety of these vehicles – new, old, and somewhere in between – populate the streets of North American cities. This car was introduced by Chrysler as a coupe in 1995 to replace the LeBaron, and by 1996, the company had also produced a convertible version of the Sebring. The car is named after the town of Sebring, Florida, which hosts a 12-hour endurance car race each year. Given Chrysler’s need to re-invent itself in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a focus on reliability and endurance was no surprise.

Originally, the Sebring was based off a melding of the Eagle Talon and Mitsubishi Galant platforms, and was often referred to as a stretched version of the Talon. This “stretching” of the car out to a 103 inch wheelbase resulted in greater leg room in the front of the car, and more headroom in the back. While the Sebring did not offer the same kind of off-the-line power as a Dodge Avenger, it handled well over long distances, and had very little body roll while turning. It was, by all accounts, a smooth ride. Although the Sebring convertible was released only one year after the coupe, it bore little resemblance in body parts to its progenitor, and in fact had much more in common with the Cirrus Sedan.

The current generation of the Sebring is based around Chrysler’s “Airflite” design concept, which has resulted in sleeker lines and many visual cues borrowed from the Crossfire model. Manufacturing of the car takes place in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Under the terms of the buyout by Fiat, the Sterling Heights plants will not be sold, but will instead close at the end of 2010. Sebring’s currently come with five different engine models as well as optional four-wheel drive. In 2009, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the Sebring one of its top picks for safety. Despite this, and a lineup of solid features, sales of the Sebring have declined in recent years. Fiat has indicated they will remake the Sebring in 2011, but there is no information about what platform will be used.

Despite its lowering numbers, Chrysler Sebring auto insurance quotes are still quite popular, as many older versions of the car continue to be in use. Before buying a policy, comparing Chrysler Sebring auto insurance rates is a good idea, and CarInsuranceQuotes.com can help consumers find the best coverage for their needs by offering side-by-side comparisons of the best Sebring car insurance quotes in the country.
